Humans are considered as the most intelligent animal living across the world because they possess various abilities. They have the capabilities of doing mental activities other creatures are incapable of but there are some which researchers believe have intelligence more than what was initially thought of. These are observed on apes usually as they are considered the cousins closest to humans.

This information is based on what researchers found in their DNA being similar with humans and their behavior have similarities with people too. Although land animals are not the only ones with this intelligence because there are also intelligent sea life being observed by scientists. Knowing the extent of their capabilities is harder because of their underwater habitat that individuals cannot always visit.

Continuous development of modern technology enables them to observe these sea creatures that were previously impossible. They could set up some cameras and devices to help them record the daily activities, habits and reactions of these creatures. Others are even capable of using tools to help them like the Tusk fish using rocks to crack shells open.

Another example are octopus which are capable of finding its way through mazes, solving advanced problems, mimic others and spreading cultural information. Other types even pick coconut halves discarded by villagers that they carry and hide underneath to wait for prey. Two shells are usually used to enable them to see through the small opening between.

Dolphins are another sample of sea creatures with intelligence and are seen wearing sponges on their noses when catching fishes on rocky areas. Doing this protects their nose from the rocks while searching and chasing prey in those kinds of environment. A few captive dolphins have been tested by painting somewhere in their body they cannot see with markings and they tried seeing it by looking in mirrors and twisting like humans usually do.

Researchers have recently documented some dolphins helping also a fishing expedition occurring in a particular place during the seasons of falls. The schools of fish are heard by them towards local fishermen with their wading nets in water and the water is slapped to signal fishermen that the fishes are nearby. These actions are described their advance social learning when cooperating with humans.

Killer whales show their intelligence through cooperating to get the prey such as a seal sleeping on the floating ice. That whale which saw it first then calls the others and form a line with their tails facing the seal and they create waves by beating it down and up. These waves wash over that floating ice and send to the water the seal where they could kill it.

Whales are also known now for their elaborate communication and cultural exchange form aside from their intelligence. Male Humpback whales compose each year new mating songs with the popular ones gradually spreading to other parts. This cultural exchange involving the songs tend to happen within the ten years of observation period.

Knowing that other creatures are intelligent also is fascinating specially when observing them do the activities. This information might help people understand them better so they would care for them. Their environment should be preserved also to avoid them becoming extinct.
